Alleges misuse of funds by company management in the last five years

Alleging that the funds released by the State Government for Mysore Sugar Company (MySugar) in the city over the past five years, has been misused, Nagamangala MLA N Chaluvarayaswamy (JDS) has demanded a CBI or CID probe into the issue.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, the MLA, who resigned as Lok Sabha member a couple of days back, said that the management of MySugar and Pandavapura Sahakara Sakkare Karkhane (PSSK) should be separated. “Instead of nominating chairmen for the sugar factories, the government should depute able officers to head them and manage the affairs in a transparent manner. If the government does not take appropriate steps to revive the ailing industries, the issue will be taken up on the floor of the Assembly and also on the streets,” he warned.

Six-lane road

Speaking about the frequent bottlenecks on the Bangalore-Mysore highway, Chaluvarayaswamy said that it should be converted into a six-lane road and speed-breakers should be removed to facilitate smooth flow of traffic.

“Alternative passage like service roads and underpass should be provided for pedestrians and cattle to avert accidents, instead of laying speed-breakers.

Bypass roads or flyovers should be laid at Ramanagar, Channapatna, Maddur and Mandya to avoid inconvenience to residents of the respective towns and cities,” he said.

Pointing out that the Congress election manifesto promised 24-hour uninterrupted power supply to consumers, he challenged the government to provide power for at least 18 hours a day. “The district administration should take steps to tackle the prevailing drinking water crisis. Old-age and widow pension and allowance for physically-challenged have not been released for the past three to four months. The Deputy Commissioner should look into the issue to mitigate the sufferings of the beneficiaries,” the MLA said.
JD(S) district unit president D Ramesh, SC/ST wing president Somasekhar Keragodu and youth wing president Shashidar Belur were present.
