Freedom fighter remembered

Assembly Deputy Speaker K G Bopaiah, Deputy Commissioner K H Ashwathanarayana Gowda, Additional Deputy Commissioner Chandre Gowda, CMC Commissioner K Srikanthrao and others offered floral tribute to the portrait of Appayya Gowda.

Later speaking on the occasion, Bopaiah said all of us should remember the sacrifice of Appayya Gowda. The Appayya Gowda memorial must be constructed at the earliest. For various reasons, the work has been delaying.

Let us take a pledge to complete the work on the memorial by October 31, 2010.
Guddemane Appayya Gowda was not restricted to a particular community.

There is a need to spread the message highlighting his fight against British, sacrifice for the entire state.
Kannada and Culture department has given Rs 5 lakh towards the construction of Guddemane Appayya Gowda statue. By raising donations, Bopaiah called upon the public to help construct a memorial hall and install a statue.

Guddemane Ramesh welcomed the gathering.
