Brother too tries to take life fearing bad result in Class 10

A Delhi Police officer’s wife and his daughter died after consuming poison at their house on Monday after she failed in her class 12 exam results. His son also tried to end his life, but survived, police said on Thursday.

Pradeep is posted as an assistant sub-inspector with Vijay Vihar police station, and stays with his family at Laxmi Park block B in west Delhi’s Nihal Vihar.

Pradeep’s wife Kamlesh, 45, and daughter Shivani, 17, were declared brought dead at Satyawadi Raja Harish Chandra Hospital, while his son underwent a treatment.
“The sequence of events began after the girl’s class 12 examinations were declared on Monday. As feared, she failed,” a police officer said.

Pradeep was informed about the result at his office, on which, he scolded her on phone. Apparently depressed, the girl consumed poison.

After the girl consumed poison, her brother fearing failure in his class 10 results also tried to end his life in the similar way.

Then, as per the boy’s statement to police on Thursday, their mother too consumed poison after seeing them lying on the floor, police said, quoting the boy.

The incident came to light when a relative came to the house and saw them lying unconscious on the floor.

The relative informed Pradeep after which police rushed to the spot. They took them to a hospital, but Kamlesh and Shivani could not be saved.

Pradeep’s son later gave his statement to police in which he claimed that he feared failing in his class 10 exams, which was scheduled to be declared on Thursday.
