Actor Shruthi marries journalist

Sandalwood actor Shruthi married Bangalore-based journalist Chandrachooda Chakravarthy at a simple ceremony in the Kollur Mookambika temple Thursday morning.

Shruti completed the marriage rituals using her original name Girija. The marriage was attended by a few members of her family, including her daughter.  Her earlier marriage to film director Mahinder had ended in divorce.

Sources said the actor’s wedding was originally slated to be held at Baniga village in Hosanagar taluk, but had been shifted to Kollur in the wake of opposition from a member of the Channakeshava-Venkataramana Swamy Temple Committee, popularly known as Jodi temple.

Though necessary arrangements had been made for the wedding at Baniga, the name of the bride and the groom was kept a secret.

At the temple entrance, the couple’s names had been displayed as Girija and Chandrashekhar.

Most of the villagers were not aware of the star’s ‘confidential’ wedding. But a member of the temple committee came to the venue in an inebriated state on Wednesday night and opposed the ceremony, saying he was not informed about it. Fearing trouble, the bride and the groom shifted to Kollur the same night, sources said.
