<p> In a move that is expected to reduce the tax-payers’ grievances and also shore up the Centre’s revenue collection, the government has decided to open single-window income tax (I-T) offices in Maoist-infested regions.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Initially, the offices, named Aaykar Sampark Kendras (ASK), will be opened in Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal and Bihar. <br /><br />I-T department sources say, “This is the first time that these multi-utility centres are being opened in small cities and districts, including Maoist-affected areas. The ASKs will be at the district or administrative headquarters of the area, and will not only generate employment but also spread awareness about payment of taxes.”</p>
