JD(S) leader Y S V Datta, on Tuesday, sought review of D M Nanjundappa Committee Report on Regional Imbalances, following the State government deciding to implement Article 371-J of the Constitution providing special status to Hyderabad-Karnataka region.
“With the implementation of Article 371-J of the Constitution, backwards taluks of Hyderabad-Karnataka will get special status with regard to grants, employment and education. Such being the case, backward taluks in other parts of State as identified by D M Nanjundappa Committee will have to be considered separately for development”, Datta said, participating in the discussion on the motion of thanks to Governor’s address in the Legislative Assembly. Hyderabad-Karnataka getting special status would also mean reallocation of funds to other backward taluks, he added.
