Guru Nanak Jayanti celebrated

A large number of devotees thronged the tastefully decorated Gurdwaras in the region to pay obeisance.

The devotees also took the Langar (community kitchen) organised on the occasion and listened to Shabad Kirtans besides taking a dip in the sarovars (tanks) attached to a number of shrines. A large number of people had reached Amritsar to visit the Golden Temple which was illuminated.

Guru Nanak Dev was born at Nankana Sahab near Lahore in Pakistan in 1469. A large number of Sikhs from Punjab and other places have gone to the neighbouring country to join the celebrations at Nankana Sahab.

A large number of devotees on Monday took a holy dip in the sarovar and Kali Bein near Gurdwara Ber Sahib on the occasion of birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev.

The devotees thronged in large numbers to the Gurdwara Ber Sahib and other Gurdwaras attached to the early life of Guru Nanak Devji and paid their obeisance and listened to the holy kirtan. Guru Nanak Dev ji had spent 14 years of his early life at Sultanpur Lodhi.
