<p>Terming as “vote bank politics” the Congress government’s announcement that it will implement the recommendations of the Ranganath Mishra and Rajinder Sachar committees for the uplifting minorities, B J Puttaswamy (BJP) on Wednesday demanded that the same facilities be extended to backward communities as well. <br /><br /></p>.<p>Participating in a discussion on the motion of thanks to the governor’s address in the Legislative Council, Puttaswamy said both the reports are yet to be approved by the Centre. <br />But, the Congress government here has already made its stance on the reports. And, this is nothing short of a gimmick, he said. <br /><br />The Mishra report suggests reservation should be on the basis of religion, Puttaswamy said. If the report is implemented, it will divide the people of the State, he added.<br /></p>
