Industrialist held for stealing Blackberry

Police said Sanjay Somany (51),  Managing Director of Hindustan National Glass and Industries Limited, was pictured by CCTV camera while stealing the phone. Deputy Commissioner of Police (IGI Airport) K C Trivedi said the industrialist was caught on Monday evening when he returned from Chennai. “He was produced before a magistrate who granted him bail,” Trivedi said.

The arrest came as the police probed into the complaint by M K Puri, who claimed early on Monday that his Blackberry phone had been stolen on the airport premises just before he boarded his Mumbai-bound flight. Soon after receiving the complaint, the airport authorities checked the CCTV footage which showed a person dressed in blue picking up a phone during security check.

It was also ascertained that Somany boarded a Chennai-bound flight. His presence on was confirmed by co-passengers and flight crew.
