Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has decided not to accept shawls, garlands, mementos and Mysore petas in public functions.

He made an announcement to this effect while interacting with the public, during the Janata Darshan on Monday.

Siddaramaiah said, henceforth, he would not accept felicitations. But he did not cite any reason for the same.

When some in the crowd tried to touch his feet to draw his attention, the chief minister curtly asked them not to indulge in such acts.

He said all they should be doing is to submit their memorandum or explain their problem so that he can take it up with the officers.

Oral instruction

On Saturday, KPCC chief G Parameshwara had given oral instructions to all the ministers to refuse felicitations, in order to show solidarity with the grieving families of victims of the Uttarakhand tragedy.
