A 45-year-old security guard was hacked to death allegedly by his brother’s sons over a property dispute, at Attur Layout here on Friday.

According to police, Siddalingappa was returning home on his bike after dropping his son to school when he was accosted by four youths. The assailants attacked him with knives and smashed his head with bricks. Local residents rushed a grievously injured Siddalingappa to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Siddalingappa hailed from Doddaballapur and was working as a security guard at Seshadripuram School. He is survived by his wife Gangalakshmi, a son and two daughters.

Gangalakshmi, in her complaint, has suspected the role of Srinivas and Sriram - the sons of Siddalingappa’s elder brother - in the crime. Siddalingappa and his elder brother jointly owned immovable property at Yelahanka New Town. He had sold the property for Rs 29 lakh and kept the money with himself. Srinivas and Sriram demanded their share of money and Siddalingappa had refused to part with the share. The three used to quarrel frequently over the issue. Gangalakshmi has accused the two of plotting the murder of  her husband. With Srinivas and Sriram absconding, police suspect them to be behind the murder.
