4 women of a family killed in accident

Four women belonging to the same family were killed on the spot when the car in which they were travelling collided with a lorry near Vapasandra on the outskirts of the city on National Highway 7 on Tuesday.

The dead are Venkatalakshmamma, 65, a resident of Nandi village, Ratnamma, 55, Prameelamma, 50, and Parvathamma, 45, all residents of Doddamarali village. Ratnamma’s husband Channabyregowda, 50, who was driving the car, sustained minor injuries.They were  returning to their villages after attending a programme at Soppahalli village i when the accident occurred. When the car exited the underpass to enter the National Highway, the driver thought he had lost the way. He then tried to reverse the vehicle when the Bangalore bound lorry from Hyderabad  hit the car. The lorry fell over the car, resulting in the deaths.
