BMTC checking staff, under the supervision of officers, intensified checking to detect ticketless travelling by passengers.
In June, the staff checked 27,046 trips and penalised 8,685 ticketless passengers collecting Rs 9.99 lakh as penalty and booked 3,800 cases against conductors for initiating disciplinary action. They also penalised 444 male passengers occupying seats reserved for lady passengers and imposed fine of Rs 44,400 in accordance with Rule 94 of Karnataka Motor Vehicles Rules read with Section 177 of Motor Vehicle Act.
