The style quotient at the ‘Kingfisher Bangalore Derby’, held at the Bangalore Turf Club, was quite high this year. Both the participants and the visitors were spotted wearing unconventional hats, dresses and jackets. From light summer dresses to bright floral jackets, the visitors’ stands showcased the style and panache of the who’s who of the City.

Ekta, a regular at the derby, kept her fingers crossed as the race started. Her hat stood
out and was in fact, quite a head-turner.

“I got this hat from the USA. I have been coming to the Derby since I was a child and my style quotient changes every year. This is one of the events in the City where everyone comes out in their dresses and hats. It’s nice to see the splash of colours here,” she said.
The style quotient varied from one stand to another. While some were wearing pastel shades and bright hues, the others were more ornate with net and lace hats. Though the men were nowhere close to the women when it came to dressing up, they did look stylish in their jackets and denims.

Niharika, owner of a fashion house, came dressed in a bright sea green knee-length dress. She had accessorised it well with a brown leather belt. “This is my first time at the derby and I am having loads of fun. For me, fashion is all about looking glamourous and I love to look stylish at all times. I make sure that I carry myself gracefully and that describes my style and sense of fashion,” she said.

Tanya came to the venue with her daughter Mia. Dressed in a white dress and a chequered jacket, she looked quite elegant.

She was of the opinion that Bangaloreans need to up their style especially when it comes to events such as this.

Rajeshwari, who was wearing a pretty white lace dress and white sandals, was excited to be a part of the event and was busy catching up with her friends. “I am having a great time at the event and fashion for me is all about feeling comfortable. Having the right attitude and dressing according to the occasion is imperative for me,” she said.

Her friend Tania, a fashion designer, was looking equally fabulous in a navy blue and white striped dress. She spruced up her look with a peach jacket and black peep-toe shoes. “I am extremely excited and looking forward to the derby as this is my first time and my friends are also participating in the race,” she noted.
