With absolutely no filmi connections, Sonal Chauhan says her entry into Bollywood was destined. Ever since her debut in Jannat, the actress has time and again proven her mettle in Bollywood as well as the South. Sonal, who was last seen in the thriller ‘3G’, was in the City for the ‘Kingfisher Starting Draw Nite’.

Walking in tall and confident, Sonal grabbed all the attention with ease. Her subtle humour and the way in which she carried herself through the event was something that left an impression on everyone’s mind. Unlike most B-town heroines, this pretty damsel tells Metrolife that all these years, she’s remained in touch with her roots.

Maybe that’s why she has no hesitations about doing movies of any language.

“I have always maintained that language should never be a barrier. Every time I do a movie, I explore something new about myself. I experience new emotions through my movies and characters. I choose my movies on the basis of characters that I can
relate to. Even when I go and watch movies, I try to figure out how well I can relate to the characters,” she says.

After her Telugu film debut ‘Rainbow’, Sonal has been signed on as the leading lady in actor Balakrishna’s untitled film. Visibly excited, the actress says, “This is a huge opportunity for me. I love the team and the role offered to me. I can’t really speak much about the role but I can promise you that it will be different.”

She was also seen in a Kannada movie opposite Shivarajkumar and Sonal says that she is eager to do more films here. “The language is a huge challenge for me but I have always felt that if you have a good director to guide you, the rest will just fall into place,” she adds.

A complete romantic at heart, Sonal says that she has a weak spot for romantic films. No wonder one has seen her mostly in these films. “As a child, I loved romantic and intense love stories. Yes, I have been a part of many romantic movies but as an actor, one should be versatile and I am open to all sorts of roles. I’d love to play characters with grey shades or even act in an action movie. That’s how an actor explores herself. It is a challenge to be able to portray what nobody else has imagined about me,” she adds.

And like most actresses, she too has been prey to link-ups in the industry. But the actress says that she can never see herself falling in love right now.

“Though I am a romantic at heart, I am not good at romancing someone in real life. I have too many things going on right now for me to settle down. But someday, I do hope to
find someone, who will make me the centre of his attention and love me for who I am,” she signs off.
