The first-year BBM and BCA students of PES College of Business Management, Banashankari were formally inducted into the institution at the inaugural function held recently. Students and their parents as well as teachers participated in the programme.

The students felt that the induction event helped them get a better understanding of the college and what is expected of them.

The principal, parents and teachers addressed the new batch of students and urged them to diversify their skills by making the best use of the facilities provided by the college.

The parents were asked to watch the progress of their wards in academics by constantly interacting with the members of the faculty.

The students, who were thrilled to start a fresh chapter in their lives, could not wait to make friends and get to know their subjects as well as teachers. Avirup Chatterjee, a first-year student, says that college is a different experience for him.

“Coming from a different city, I find everything new here. I’m enjoying the change in my surroundings. The best part is that I get to mingle and interact with people who hail from different backgrounds and cultures. The campus is well-equipped and the teachers are extremely friendly. I am all set to make the most of the time that I will spend here,” he says.

Other students say that college has a lot to offer and are looking forward to the opportunity to hone their skills and participate in extracurricular activities. Geetisha Jain, who has completed her high school in Jaipur, says that she is happy to be back with her family, which is based in the City. “I was staying in the school hostel but now, I am a day-scholar. I chose BBM as I wanted to do something different and it gives me the opportunity to explore my talents. I want to be an entrepreneur. I like being a part of extracurricular activities and hope to be a part of the cultural team here,” she notes.

Others, like Syed Mohammad Afzal, say that they are happy to have a set of helpful teachers. He feels that the teachers are quite approachable and hence, the students aren’t having any problems with fitting in. “It is not just the teachers who are friendly — even the seniors are very supportive and helpful. During the inaugural function, we were told about the placement as well as the rules and regulations of the college. This helped us in getting to know more about the college,” he sums up.
