Last Updated 23 July 2013, 20:36 IST

Rain in Odisha under the impact of low pressure in the Bay of Bengal will continue at least for the next 48 hours as the system has intensified further, the local met office said in a statement here on Tuesday.

“Rain and thunder shower will occur at many places in Odisha during the next 48 hours. However, the rainfall is expected to be heavy to very heavy in some pockets in interior parts of the state,” the weather office said.

On Tuesday, Bhubaneswar recorded the highest rainfall of 18.1 mm followed by Keonjhargarh (13mm) in northern Odisha and Sambalpur (10mm) in western Odisha.
Fishermen have been advised against venturing into the sea as the water will remain extremely choppy, with a wind speed of 50 to 60 km per hour.
