Briefing reporters Nokia India Marketing Head Vineet Taneja said “Nokia has identified a potential quality issue with chargers manufactured by our third party supplier in China.”
The company said consumers can check whether their chargers belong to the exchange programme by three simple method. A customer can send SMS by typing CHG space 27 digit serial number of the charger to 55555. They can also visit http://chargerexchange.nokia.com or nearest Nokia priority dealership store or Nokia care centre to avail this facility.

Reuters  reported that Nokia announced at Helsinki that it will replace 14 million cellphone chargers made by China’s BYD Co as chargers could fall apart and expose consumers to risk of electrical shock. “We are undertaking this exchange programme as  precautionary measure,” said Nokia spokesman Doug Dawson.
