Bhajan Lal's party splits

 With the entry of these MLAs, the Congress strength   reached 44 in the 90-member state assembly.
The Congress government is supported by seven Independent MLAs.

H S Chatha, Speaker of the assembly, validated the crossover of the MLAs under the anti-defection law, as they constituted two-thirds of the six-member HJC legislature group.

The four MLAs –– Zile Ram, Vinod Bhyana, Rao Narender and Satpal Sangwan ––earlier called on the Speaker in his chamber on Monday evening and handed over a letter informing their decision to join the Congress.
