Revenue Minister V Sreenivas Prasad said on Tuesday that the long-delayed recruitment process of land surveyors has been completed and that appointment letters will be issued soon to the 1,856 selected candidates.

Speaking to reporters, he said that the appointment letters will be issued after obtaining approval from the State Cabinet.

The government wants to recruit another 1,400 land surveyors in the next round. “Licensed surveyors will be given preference in the next round,” he added. He said the State is witnessing both drought and floods. Several districts have been affected due to the vagaries of nature. The State has recently sought financial assistance from the Centre to provide relief to those affected. “The Centre has agreed to send a study team to the State,” he explained.

The Minister said the government has recently replied to observations made by Governor H R Bhardwaj on the proposed legislation that seeks to regularise unauthorised houses on revenue land (those constructed on plots measuring 20/30 sq ft and below) in urban areas.
The Governor had sent back the bill with a detailed observation against it. The bill was approved by the Legislature in December 2012 when BJP was in power.
