Tum Mile

Emraan Hashmi

is back with his ‘Jannat’ director Kunal Deshmukh. ‘Tum Mile’ is a story of an estranged couple, who once shared a beautiful relationship, but moved on in life after their split.

Akshay (Emraan Hashmi) meets Sanjana (Soha Ali Khan) on a Cape Town-Mumbai flight after six years. Immediately the plot moves six years back to the time when they first met. Akshay, then an art student loses his heart to Sanjana. Struggling artist Akshay and activist Sanjana decide to live together. But soon monetary issues leading to ego clashes break their relationship apart.

They land in troubled waters as soon as they arrive in Mumbai on 26th July 2005. While they struggle to make it through the flooded streets of Mumbai, the past catches up with them. As the rain’s fury beats down on the city, Akshay and Sanjana discover each other all over again.

‘Tum Mile’ is more of a romantic film with the natural disaster added for effect. While the director succeeds in depicting the tiff between the lovers, it’s the disaster aspect that does not click. The infamous Mumbai floods should have been given more importance .

Unfortunately, the director has used the natural disaster as a tool to take the story forward. Cinematography does justice to the beauty of South Africa (in songs) and also during the (Mumbai) flood sequences. But the usage of footage does not work at places. Too many lengthy flashbacks also play spoilsport.

Pritam deserves a pat on the back for his consistency in delivering great music. Emraan is only getting better and better with each passing film. Same goes with Soha Ali Khan, who has delivered her best performance in ‘Tum Mile’.
