A host of programmes and cultural shows have been planned by the Tamil Nadu government to celebrate the centenary year of T P Rajalakshmi, the first woman director of south Indian cinema.
According to the government sources, a portrait of Rajalakshmi will be unveiled at the function organised at state government museum to mark the occasion.
Apart from Assembly Speaker P Dhanapal and State Finance Minister O Paneerselvam, a hosts of celebrities from the film fraternity are expected to participate in the event.
Actors and directors are planning to showcase the achievements of Rajalakshmi, who was the first woman director in South Indian cinema — and the second in Indian cinema after Fathima Begum.
During the function rare photographs of Rajalakshmi will be displayed for public view.
