Celebrating graduation

Eating out with friends and family at eateries in Hauz Khas village is always fun. Ever imagined how interesting it would be to dine at the Hauz Khas monument, if by any chance, there was any restaurant inside.

What if there was a luxurious restaurant which allows you to dine in the Open Park and relish breakfast and lunch near the lake? It may not be possible as eateries are facing closure but Stuti Gawri did not feel any inhibitions in a giving a thought about it and presenting it as a model as her final year project.

A student of Raffles Millenium International College, Stuti presented this model of restaurant in ‘Scope-2013’ – a programme that celebrated her completion of graduation and made her an Advanced Diploma holder in interior designing.

“The concept of the restaurant was based on the rays of the sun and accordingly the dining areas are separated,” says Stuti. Since it was a temporary construction and small scale model it attracted everyone present at Hotel Imperial.

Similarly, there was a model on railway station with eateries inside it and parking area around it. Likewise, a model on Lodhi Gardens, with a resort in the middle of the lake and house on a hill was made by other students of interior designing.

Scope 2013 included exhibition of the works of graduates from fashion marketing, interior designing, multimedia design, product design and visual communication.

But the highlight was the fashion show where 25 students showcased their collections. Based on the theme of ‘love and discipline’ Archit Aggarwal, now a degree holder in fashion designing used a combination of black and peach colour to justify his theme. “I used black for discipline and peach colour for love. I used organic fabric which was hand-dyed,” says Archit, who started working on his project six months ago.

Similarly, another student presented intricate work of machine designs and patterns on fabric. Grey and turquoise colour dominated her collection. Likewise, other students experimented with fabrics and designs and presented a unique collection of western outfits.
