Television actress Kavitha Nair has multiple identities. She donned different characters on the small screen and is popular among regular television viewers, more by the names of characters that she has played than as Kavitha Nair.

Her role as a woman cop in one of the Malayalam serials made her a household favourite. She is viewed as a strong personality and a lot of women draw inspiration and strength from her.

Kavitha dabbled with hosting shows and is known for her witty, well-informed and intelligent conversation she makes with the people she interacts with during
the shows. Now, Kavitha has accepted an offer to act in a Malayalam movie, opposite actor Mammootty, who plays a judge in the film and Kavitha essays the role of his junior advocate.

“My characters in television serials were getting a little stereotyped and I feared that
I was being typecast. So I consciously stopped accepting roles of a cop and started
experimenting with different roles,” Kavitha tells Metrolife.

Television has a definite schedule, observes Kavitha but cinema gives one the scope to travel and explore new places and roles as well. “In television, things are quite predictable but cinema offers something to look forward to. And the lifestyle too is different. The loud gestures and colourful clothes excite me,” she adds. While Kavitha is thrilled that her debut in the film industry is with Mammootty, she confesses that she was
certainly nervous on the first day on the sets.

“I’ve grown up watching Mammootty’s movies and today, acting with him is nothing short of a learning experience for me. I’ve also interviewed Mammootty on some of the television shows. He is a balanced personality,” she states.

There are a couple of actors, thinks Kavitha, who have really surprised movie buffs, with their exceptional acting skills.

“Fahadh Faasil is a complete surprise package and Privthiraj is an actor who never hesitates to experiment with different roles and takes criticism in his stride. Most of the young actors are willing to learn and have no airs whatsoever,” she sums up.
