Land acquisition for the Upper Krishna -III project will be taken up as per the provisions of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013, enabling land losers to get a higher quantum of compensation, Water Resources Minister M B Patil said on Wednesday.
Patil said 1.2 lakh acres would have to be acquired for the project which will help irrigate 5.3 lakh hectares in the districts of Bijapur, Bagalkot, Koppal, Raichur and Gulbarga.
