'My dreams kept changing'

Model-turned-actress Esha Gupta has been known for her bold performances in films like Jannat 2, Raaz 3D and Chakravyuh as well as a special appearance in the opening song for Punit Malhotra’s upcoming film Gori Tere Pyaar Mein.

She spoke to Metrolife while visiting the City for a fashion show.

“Currently, I’m doing a film called Humshakals with Saif Ali Khan. Sajid Khan is directing it and we just finished our London schedule. We’ll be shooting in Dubai this December and the film will be out next year,” says Esha, adding, “it’s a mad film like Sajid’s films always are. I’m playing a psychiatrist in it.”

While she’s happy with the way her career is shaping up, Esha hopes to do a period film in the future.

“Films in that genre have been going on forever – from the time of Vyjayanthimala to now. I’d love to do something like that,” she shares.

Asked about her personal style, Esha replies, “It has to be comfortable. But I always like something that’s got a feminine look. Though I’ve been tomboyish all my life, I like clothes that are fitted and not straight cut.”

If she wasn’t acting, she doesn’t know what she would have been doing in life.
“Life has its own plans and my dreams kept changing. I was one of those kids who woke up on different days saying ‘today, I’ll be a chef’ or ‘today, I’ll be a lawyer’,” confesses Esha.

“On the days I’m not acting, I dance, read, do yoga and pilates or watch movies. I try and watch every single film that is released,” she adds.

The actress admits to being a big fan of Bangalore. “For Gori Tere Pyaar Mein, we shot a song in Bangalore. That’s one of my best memories because for four days, despite doing night shoots, we covered a lot of the City. I discovered quite a bit of Bangalore – be it Hard Rock Café or Skyye Bar – and it showed me that it’s a really pretty, happening and fun city. Besides, this is where the pub culture started!” she wraps up.
