With Madikeri city growing rapidly every passing day, the construction of new houses paving way for development of new layouts and roads, there has been an increased need for more number of city buses connecting different areas.

Some of the important points of the city like Sampige Katte, Chain Gate, Aranya Bhavan, new RTO office, Abbi falls, Rajara Gadduge, Raja Seat, FMC College, Gold ground are spread across far way distance. People who travel to these places regulary, are facing shortage of buses plying on these roads. For example, it takes 5 to 6 km to reach RTO or Aranya Bhavan from the city bus stand. City dwellers are of the opinion that plying city buses on these roads would be more convenient for  public.

If the city buses are introduced, people owning cars and jeeps too might depend on buses as it would not only save fuel, but also solve the vehicle parking problem. It would also help a large number of tourists who come to the city to visit tourism places like Raja Seat, Omkareshwara temple, Abbi falls, Rajara Gadduge. On the other hand, it would also boast tourism potentials.

When the idea was proposed to open the RTO office on Abbi falls road located 5-6 km away from the main city, the citizens had opposed the idea as it would cause problem or commute to that distance. But, elected representatives and officers then had assured of introducing city bus service to solve the problem. It has been three months since the new RTO office has been inaugurated, but assurance has remained only in words.
