Allow student to attend exams: HC

The petitioner, Devi S, a second semester student of BBM, was suffering from chikungunya and could not pay the examination fees before the last date, that is October 10, 2009.

When several requests to the college did not yield any results, she moved the High Court seeking directions. Justice Ajit Gunjal, who heard the matter, has directed the college to accept her fees and permit her to attend the exams.

Memorandum to Guv

The members of a newly-formed advocates’ group on Wednesday held a protest march and submitted a memorandum to the Governor H R Bhardwaj, seeking action against advocates responsible for the attacks in the High Court premises on November 9 during a protest against Chief Justice P D Dinakaran who is facing land-grabbing charges.

In the memorandum, the group condemned the November 9 incidents and urged the Governor to use his office and bring those behind them to book, according to senior advocate and member of ‘Advocates for Self Respect’, Ravivarma Kumar. The group demanded accountability for the incidents while expressing shock by members of the legal fraternity and judiciary over it.
