FIR against Wadiyar quashed

Hearing a petition by Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar, the scion of the erstwhile Mysore royal family, who had moved the HC challenging the FIR against him alleging destruction of a lake and felling of trees in the Palace Grounds, Justice Jawad Rahim has allowed the petition and has quashed the FIR.

The then DCF, Bangalore Urban in 2006 had lodged an FIR against him alleging destruction of a lake and felling of trees including Sandalwood. The department also alleged that a wetland in the palace was filled up with debris. It had stated that Wadiyar being the owner of the land had not reported any damage to the trees to the DCF required as per the Forest Act.
