<p>The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won the Churu assembly seat, where the election was countermanded due to the death of a candidate, taking the party’s tally to 163 out of 200 Assembly seats in Rajasthan. <br /><br /></p>.<p>Churu has reported 78.55 percent voter turnout from the December 13 polling.<br /><br />BJP's former minister Rajendra Rathore got 84,100 votes, defeating his nearest rival of the Congress and sitting MLA Haji Maqbool by 24,002 votes. Security of the other seven candidates was forfeit.<br /><br />Rathore was the sitting MLA from the neighbouring Taranagar constituency.<br /></p>
