Although Goa Chief Minister Digamber Kamat has ruled out any security threat, police are leaving no stone unturned in wake of the recent Margao blasts.

"We have set up a control room in Old Goa medical college complex next to INOX where policemen will be monitoring the 20 CCTV cameras installed at the venues day in and out," Tony Fernandes, Superintendent of Police (Security) said.

Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Soni will have a Z security cover, while rest of the delegates will be provided security as per the requirements, Fernandes said.

Actresses Waheeda Rehman and Asin who were present for the inaugural function were provided Pilot Escort from their hotels to the venue and back.

"During their stay, they were provided a personal security officer each," Fernandes said.

Twenty CCTV cameras have been installed at the two festival venues – INOX multiplex premises and Kala Academy and all delegates will be thoroughly screened at the metal detectors set up at various points manned by Goa Police.

Police teams led by an inspector have been formed to give security to the VIPs who will walk the red carpet during the festival, Fernandes said.

"Three ring round teams will be at the venue with eight constables and two lady police constables in each team," he said.

Quick response teams manned by Central Industrial Security Force, which will react in case of emergencies, have also been stationed at the venues.
