JOIN USThe Railways on Saturday sent a high-level team to have a preliminary look into what could be the cause of fire in the AC coach of the Bangalore-Nanded Express.
The team comprises member (Electrical) of the Railway Board and the director-general of health (DGH).
“Since prima facie the electrical short circuit in the AC unit of the coach seems to have caused fire, Member (Electrical) Kulbhushan has gone there to ascertain whether this can be said with some certainity. The DGH will help in forming a view after observing the burn cases,” said a ministry official.
The official said an inquiry by the safety commissioner has been ordered by the railway minister. The exact reason could only be known after the investigations are over, he said. The safety commissioner is an independent body which functions under the Civil Aviation Ministry. The official said that blast or any other reason has not been cited as the cause.
