When learning becomes a reason for family bonding

What seemed like a children’s gaming zone and recreational festival, turned out to be an equally entertaining treat for parents, who actively participated in the fun and frolic at Mic N Melons KIDZOOCamp at Kalka Public School, recently.

The two-day event was aimed at educating the  kids in an entertaining manner with the help of workshops and learning sessions. The event also provided the families an exciting opportunity to bond together and create memories over fun and entertainment.

Ten-year-old Sanya Bahal couldn’t have found a better way to spend the weekend  as she beamed and jumped with joy walking inside the camp. At the expense of interrupting her, we asked her about her favourite activity. “I enjoyed Chhota Bheem in Dholakpur. My sister and  I danced with his whole family and we got ourselves clicked also,” said the cherubic Sanya before running back to the activity zones.

The event witnessed the presence of more than 25,000 people enjoying the KIDZOOCamp with interesting activities that were divided in four zones: Adventure Zone that included activities such as paintball shooting, rocket boom, inflatable rock wall, big glove boxing, trampoline catapult, etc.; Yummy Tummy Zone, a refreshment zone for all the families to indulge in the delicious and healthy bites; Exhibitor zone and the fourth zone portrayed the mythical Dholakpur City where kids were seen dancing and having a blast with Chhota Bheem (a cartoon character) and his friends. Drenched in the carnival of joy, both children and parents went from one activity station to the other, winning prizes and having fun together as a family.

“These days, children are so bogged down with their homework and assignments that they hardly get time for any outdoor activities. Just to bring back the essence of outdoor activities, we have brought them here,” said Ekta Manchanda, enjoying a day out with her children. Voicing similar concerns, the organiser of Mic N Melons, Salik Khan summed up, “Kids these days are trapped in the virtual world and our theme provides them an opportunity to learn about family bonding, creativity, critical thinking, self-regulation etc. through various activities.”
