8-year-old girl killed as tractor runs her over

An eight-year-old girl was killed when a tractor ran her over in a farmland on Kodigehalli Main Road on Monday, police said.

The driver applied reverse gear without noticing Bhemmavva, the victim who was just behind the vehicle. She came under the rear wheels of the tractor and died of grievous injuries, police added. The driver fled the spot after the accident.

The girl’s parents, Basavaraj and Devamma, hail from Yadgir district. They had come to the City recently in search of a livelihood and were working at the farmland owned by a man named Khadar Sab. They were staying in a makeshift shed there.

In another accident, an unidentified man aged between 35 and 40 was killed when a BMTC bus struck him in KR Puram. The driver of the Hoskote-KR Market bus lost control over the vehicle as the victim suddenly came in front of the vehicle. The bus then mowed him down, police said.
