Land scam: Police register complaint after a month!

Criminal cases against six including ex-CMC commissioner

Murali said that police were hesitating to register the complaint which was lodged on October 22, a month ago. However, they registered the complaint on November 22 after MLA G K Venkatshiva Reddy and other leaders raised objection during their visit to the police station.

The cases have been filed against G N Subbukrishna, a resident of Mahalakshmi layout in the City, Advocate and Notary Jiyaulla, former CMC Commissioner Sayyed Neelofer Jabeen, Manjunath, a resident of Ammerahalli in the taluk and Deputy Registering Officer, Gudibande, Mohammed Ali under Indian Penal Code column 419, 420, 167 and 423, he added.

Background

Two sites, numbering 3 and 4 with V P Khata numbers 1672 and1673 and AMR no 467, of 40X35 dimension each, was given to the JD(S) party to facilitate their activities by Muddassir Aslam Mohammed Sha Faisal on March 18, 1997. The land was registered in the name of then JD(S) taluk unit president. Since then it is the party’s custody.
But Subbukrishna, a retired teachers, gave General Power of Attorney (GPA) to one B Manjunath, a resident of Ammerahalli in the taluk on December 6 2008 over the land. Interestingly, Subbukrishna is in no way related to JD(S) party or its activities. Even notary though knowing it is illegal had stamped the papers.

Manjunath then got the land registered in his father Bairappa’s name on March 2, 2009 from Deputy Registering officer. Though aware of the illegality of the documents, the then Deputy Registering officer Mohammed Ali had registered the documents.
The corruption however doesn’t stop there. The then City Municipal Council Commissioner Sayyed Neelofer Jabeen is also party in the land scam. The former commissioner aware of the illegality aided the culprits, Murali added.

Action must be taken against all the 6 scamsters, he demanded.
