BJP demands pension for teachers in aided institutions

Last Updated 11 January 2014, 18:10 IST

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the State has demanded that the government fix pension fitment for teachers in aided institutions. They said that it must begin from the date of their entry to service and that it must be put into effect immediately.

Addressing a press conference here on Friday, BJP MLCs Go Madhusudhan and A H Shivayogi Swamy accused the government of planning to circumvent the orders of the High Court by trying to promulgate an Ordinance that provided benefits to teachers from dates later than that of their appointment.

Governor H R Bhardwaj, however, had returned the ordinance stating that the amendments to the Karnataka State Education Act, if necessary, be made after debating in the Legislature.
