Excon 2009 attracts 135 foreign cos

In fact, the number of foreign firms account for around 30 per cent of total participation in Excon — with 135 out of 450 representing foreign pavillions.

The five-day fair has attracted participation from as many as seven countries, including China, Italy Germany and UK. While the Chinese and Italian pavillions saw 24 and 14 participants respectively, the remaining were shared between, UK, Germany, South Korea, Singapore and Taiwan, CII said.

The Chinese pavillion includes firms like Black Whirlwind Engineering Machinery Development, Guangzhou C Y Machinery Parts Trading and the Italian pavillion comprises RGS Impianti’s Indian branch RGS India that manufactures industrial vacuum system among other companies.

The fair also saw participation from some of the biggies like South Korean Hyundai, which was also a sponsor, Swedish firm Vovlo (Indian unit), Schwing Stetter, Kobelco, Puzzolana, et al.

Meanwhile, extending the confidence expressed by other speakers about opportunities in India on Wednesday, Karnataka Commerce & Industry Principal Secretary V P Baligar, on Thursday, said there is tremendous opportunity for the sector in the State as well. “Karnataka has identified several infrastructure projects, and is open to executing them on a PPP model, thereby, providing with plenty for the sector,” Baligar said.
