Governor H R Bhardwaj has approved a Government Order (GO) seeking amendments to the constitution of the Hyderabad-Karnataka Regional Development Board.

Bhardwaj gave his consent on Friday to these minor changes to the previously issued GO on November 6, 2013. In a significant change, the jurisdiction of the Board’s programmes have been defined vis-a-vis the State government programmes.

The government has clarified that the Board has to call for details on projects which are under the State government’s purview, before finalising its own programmes.

In other amendments, the GO states that the Board will have two MLCs, registered as electors in the region for a period of one year by rotation, as nominated by the State government, and one member of the Lok Sabha representing the H-K region or a Rajya Sabha member who is a registered voter in the region, for a period of one year by rotation, as nominated by the State government.”

The GO also provides room for all members of the House of people representing the region and all members of the Rajya Sabha and the Legislative Council, whose names have been registered as electors in that region, to be part of the Advisory Board, which functions under the H-K Regional Development Board.

Meanwhile, Bhardwaj, on Saturday, has also signed on the amendments to the GO issued on the H-K reservation in public service. It is said that as many as 15 to 16 amendments are proposed and signed.
