A woman marketing inspector in the food and civil supplies department in Uttar Pradesh’s Sultanpur district was allegedly thrashed by a Samajwadi Party leader's son for daring to stop him from pilfering.

The alleged culprit, identified as Dimple Singh, son of former SP legislative council member Shailednra Pratap Singh, and his goons hit the lady Ranjana Singh, her husband and some other employees of the department on Friday when the official was inspecting the stock at the warehouse.

According to reports, the official rushed to the warehouse after receiving reports that Dimple Singh, a contractor, was trying to move foodgrain to another place. The official and others were thrashed by Dimple Singh and his goons by hockey sticks and other objects.

Her husband  informed police but the culprits fled by the time they arrived. A case has been registered against Dimple Singh and some others and an investigation is on.

The official has also sought security alleging that she has been receiving threat calls from Singh.

Some days back SP MLA Shribhagwan Sharma alias Pandit Singh, who has criminal antecedents, had thrashed a revenue official in Bulandshahar district allegedly after the official refused to pay ‘protection money’ to the goons of the MLA.

Earlier, SP leaders have been involved in assaulting officials and common people in the state. SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav had warned party leaders and workers against breaking the law and said that such leaders would be shown the door.
