Plaint against Deshpande

Last Updated 20 January 2014, 21:08 IST

Social activist Jayant Tinekar on Monday filed a private complaint against Minister R V Deshpande in the judicial magistrate first class court in the town, alleging that he had submitted false affidavits on his assets along with his nomination papers for the Assembly elections in 2004, 2008 and 2013.

Deshpande had declared assets worth Rs 10.86 crore in 2004, Tinekar told a press conference after filing the case. But he (Tinekar) was yet to get information in this regard from the departments concerned, he said. Deshpande had declared assets worth Rs 127 crore during the 2008 elections. For 2013, losses to the tune of Rs 49 crore and payment of Rs 63 lakh towards Income Tax have been shown, as per the documents. But all these documents leave a scope for suspicion, he said.

While the 2008 affidavit shows that Deshpande purchased one acre of land at Jakkur in Bangalore at Rs 3.36 per sq ft, the affidavit for 2013 says that Deshpande had bought 29,363 sq ft at Rs 11.35 per sq ft, Tinekar alleged.
