MLA visits coffee plantations in C'magalur

Growers showed him the coffee beans that withered due to untimely rains. While some beans were rotting on the grounds, many had sprouted into saplings. Villagers Srinkanta Gowda, G Sathish, Dattegowda, Thammaiah, Nagaraje Gowda and GP President Manjunath spoke about the problems of the growers.

“It is not possible to pick the beans that have fallen on ground. We urge the Government to release special package for coffee growers at the earliest,” growers said. Paddy, ragi, onion, potatoes, coffee, areca, chilly crops have been destroyed to a very large extent due to untimely rainfall.

Ravi addressing the reporters said that he will get a comprehensive report from Agriculture, Horticulture Departments and from Coffee Board and discuss the issue with the CM and the Minister for Agriculture and Horticulture.
