Accreditation to distance learning centres

Speaking to mediapersons here on Thursday, she said it is mandatory to have accreditation for the centres and those applying should have five years of existence. The DEC will play role like NAAC in assessing them through six parameters, she added. The applying centres should have their own study materials, own examination procedure and evaluation system; DEC will look into these aspects apart from their infrastructure facility, quality of the study materials. Depending on the quality, they will be awarded A, A+, B, B+ and C grades, she informed. Already the courses of the KSOU have been recognised by the DEC, she added.

New technology

She stressed on the point that the open universities must adopt new technologies to attract the present generation as there has been a change in learning system. KSOU VC Prof Viveka Rai said the University will be applying for accreditation in January 2010. Since it involves huge procedures, it would take more time to meet the guidelines set up by DEC.
