JD(S) workers' two-wheeler rally to B'lore

Last Updated 29 January 2014, 19:10 IST

As many as 2,000 youth workers of Janata Dal (Secular) from Mysore and surrounding districts took part in a two-wheeler rally organised by the party, on Wednesday. The rally later culminated at the Palace Grounds in Bangalore where the party had organised a massive ‘Yuva Chetana’ rally.

Former chief minister and Ramnagar MLA H D Kumaraswamy who launched the rally from Kote Anjaneya Swamy Temple at Mysore Palace north gate, arrived in a two-wheeler to the launch venue.

He travelled pillion on the two-wheeler of G D Harish son of Chamundeshwari MLA G T Devegowda, from a hotel he was staying on Theobald road in Nazarbad to the temple. Following a demand for the party workers he also rode a two-wheeler later up to a distance, only to switch over to an open vehicle later.

Speaking to media he blamed both Congress and BJP for raking up the issue surrounding past riots like the massacre of sikhs in 1984 and Godhra riots in Gujarat,  only to reap benefits in view of the coming Lok Sabha  elections. Instead both the Central and State governments should concentrate on the burning issues.

Following the rally, the normal traffic near Statue Circle (facing north gate of the palace) was disrupted for at least an hour.

Earlier, Kumaraswamy paid obeisance at the abode of Goddess Chamundeshwari atop Chamundi Hill at 6 am. He was accompanied by his party MLAs.
