Student's reckless driving triggers serial accident; three injured

Three persons, including a two-year-old boy, were injured in a serial accident after an engineering student drove his car recklessly near Meenakshi Mall at Hulimavu on Thursday night.

Two school buses, an autorickshaw and a car were also damaged in the accident. The injured were rushed to a nearby private hospital and are said to be out of danger. The police arrested Sachin on the charge of rash and negligent driving.

 According to the police, Sachin was returning home with his four friends in a car after visiting Meenakshi Mall. As he tried to overtake other vehicles, the car ran over the divider and entered the other end of the road and rammed a Delhi Public School bus. Later, it collided with a Padmaseshadri Balabhavan School bus and hit an auto moving towards Gottigere. The car then rammed an electricity pole and stopped, said the police. Selvi, 21, and Divya, who were in the auto and Raju, the auto driver and a resident of Devarachikkanahalli, were injured. Tony, an engineer, who works at the construction site, shifted the injured to hospital in his car.

Mowed down by lorry

A garment factory employee was mowed down by a lorry near Mysore Road on Thursday evening. 

According to Byatarayanapura traffic police, Savitha, 39, was on her way home after work. She was on her two-wheeler near Gali Anjenya Temple, on Mysore Road, when a speeding lorry hit her vehicle from behind resulting in her fall. Savitha was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was declared brought dead.
