Man stabs himself to death

 A 35-year-old man stabbed himself to death at his house in KHB Colony in Govindraj Nagar on Saturday evening.

The deceased, K Sundar, a helper at a private factory in Rajajinagar Industrial area, was married to Kavita and the couple had a two-year-old son. He had turned a chronic alcoholic, which led to marital discord, police said.

On Saturday at around 7 pm, Sundar came home drunk and relieved himself in the living room. Miffed, Kavita chided him, which led to an altercation between the two. In her complaint to the police, Kavita said Sundar felt humiliated as she scolded him.

When he threatened to kill himself, she did not think he would take the extreme step indeed, she said. When Sundar stabbed himself with a kitchen knife, she rushed him to a nearby private hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on Sunday morning.

A senior police official said though the injury was minor, internal bleeding led to the death. The Vijaynagar police have registered a case.
