IT services and consulting giant Infosys will establish a new delivery centre in Araraquara in Brazil as it moves to expand its presence in Latin America, the company said on Thursday.

The new 100-seat centre in Brazil will initially house 25 employees and provide services in SAP Application Management services to Citrosuco, the world’s leading orange juice producer, and other clients across Brazil, Claudio Elsas, Country Head, Infosys Brazil, said.

With this 550 sq m centre, Infosys and its subsidiaries are further expanding their footprint in Latin America with operations across Brazil, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, Mexico, and Argentina, employing over 1,700 people.

Infosys set up operations in Brazil in 2009. The company and its subsidiaries employ over 700 people in Brazil

“The new facility in Brazil will be a key part of our global network of delivery centres. It will strengthen our ability to drive innovation and growth for our clients in Latin America. Brazil’s talented workforce, a growing domestic market and a positive environment fostered by the government make this country an attractive destination for us,” Elsas said.

Last year, Infosys also trained students and young professionals from Brazil on Internet-based technologies to enhance their skills and employment opportunities.

It also set up a delivery centre for its business process outsourcing subsidiary, Infosys BPO, in San Jose, Costa Rica to provide key services in the strategic sourcing and procurement segments.
