<p> A man assaulted the police inspector who came to arrest him allegedly for attacking a woman, at Banahalli on Thursday.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Mahadeva alias Amavasye had attacked Puttananjamma, a resident of the same village over a petty quarrel, with a machete, the police said.<br /><br />When Santemarahalli police inspector Janardhan came to arrest Mahadeva, he attacked the inspector with the machete.<br /><br />The inspector was rushed to the government hospital in T Narasipura, from where he was shifted to KR Hospital in Mysore. Puttananjamma has been admitted to the community health centre in Santemarahalli.<br /><br />DySP Muttiswaminaidu and Circle Inspector arrested Mahadevappa. <br /><br /></p>
