Sri Lankan colts edge past England in a thriller; South Africa, New Zealand, Win

Sri Lanka Under-19s got off to a perfect start, edging past their England counterparts by one wicket in a thrilling match at the Under-19 Cricket World Cup here on Sunday. 

After a Jonathan Tottersall 95 had helped England to 230/9 in their 50 overs, Sri Lanka seemed to have lost their way when they lost half the side with just 123 on the board. But top scorer Sadeera Samarwickrama (82) and Thilaksha Sumanasiri (43) kept them in the hunt before the last wicket pair took them over the line.

New Zealand Under-19: 281/5 in 50 overs (Raki Weerasundara 33, Robert O’Donnell 107 n.o., Shawn Hicks 70, Leo Carter 48; Pankaj Prakash 2-70, Moaaz Qazi 2-50) bt UAE Under-19: 169 all out in 49.4 overs (Shahrukh Ahmed 27, Chirag Suri 57; Jack Hunter 3-32, Dane Watson 2-36, Jeremy Benton 2-16).
