HBCS office raided, documents seized

The Department of Stamps and Registration seized documents after raiding the office of Telecom Employees’ House Building Co-operative Society (HBCS) in Seshadripuram on Tuesday.

The raid followed reports of alleged evasion of stamp duty which is said to have caused a loss of crores of rupees to the State government.

A team of eight officials raided the society office.

The officials went through numerous files but were tight-lipped about the documents seized and the qu­antum of stamp duty evaded.

Arrested

The Bangalore Metropolitan Task Force on Tuesday arrested two more persons in connection with illegal sand mining at Vaderahalli lake.

According to police, Prakash alias Jolle Prakash from Doddakallasandra, and Narayana from Basavanapura village near Rajarajeshwarinagar were the kingpins leading illegal sand mining activities.
