Young people are deeply influenced by films and that influence often reflects itself in their lifestyles and their day- to-day activities.

Impressionable minds absorb what they see in the cinema. They often try to behave, dress and act just like their onscreen ‘heroes’. Metrolife takes a look at the impact of big screen heroes on the lives of everyday people in the City.

Siddiq Sharif, a real estate businessman is a great fan of Shah Rukh Khan and fond of imitating most stars in Bollywood. He has watched all the films of his favourite icon SRK and several other popular Bollywood stars. After watching London Dreams, he changed his hairstyle copying the style Salman Khan sports in the film and bought himself a new bracelet identical to the one the movie star wears in the film.
"I want to be like my favourite star and my hairstyle and dress sense changes frequently, after each film that I see. I get special attention among my peer groups who instantly pick up on these changes," he says.

He further adds, "My brother Altamash Sharif is also a die-hard fan of Salman Khan. He imitates whatever Sallu Bhai does on screen and works out at the gym to build up a physique like his hero and repeats his onscreen dialogues at home."
Prerana, a student in St Joseph’s College says that she is not really influenced by film in real life.

"I follow my favourite actress Katrina Kaif sometimes in her style of dressing but I never adopt her hairstyle or speech patterns,” she opines.
Abhinay says that he is greatly influenced by films. "I liked the film Dil Chahta Hai very much. I can identify with the plot and characters. We friends often go off on a trip and have a lot of fun just like the characters in the film,” he enthuses.
Simran, a student from Christ College says that she is never influenced by movies. "I watch films purely for entertainment. We should not blindly ape film celebrities from the big screen and there is nothing great or idealistic in their lives to follow," she concludes.
